Artist's Bio

Who is Rebecca Lynne?

Rebecca Lynne is a mixed media artist from the Santa Cruz mountains of California. At 24 years old, she has been experimenting with as many forms of creative expression as possible for over a decade. She has worked as a buyer for multiple art supply stores, which helped expand her knowledge of materials and their uses. With only one community college drawing class under her belt, she is mostly self-taught.

She creates colorful and textured pieces inspired by growth, the life around her, and the way it's constantly changing. She also pulls inspiration from girlhood, nostalgia, and self exploration. For her, the ideal painting conditions are late at night, with music playing, and her cat, Momo, observing.

In 2025 so far, Rebecca is enjoying experimenting with thick acrylic paint, paper collage, and uniquely shaped painting surfaces. The subjects are often eyes, birds, bugs, and plants.

Artist's Statement

Why do I make art?

I don’t fully know the answer yet. It’s been over a decade now since I began my journey as an artist. I’m still so young, only 24; I have much more experimenting and creating to do in this lifetime. It would be naive of me to think that I have an answer. All I know is that I can’t stop. I will never stop making art; it’s just how I live.

I am dedicated to self growth and expression. I am dedicated to change. Not only am I constantly changing and growing and evolving, but so are you, and so is every other part of the world. Change is truly the only constant. I find that to be the most terrifying and exciting thing ever. The most inspiring thing ever.

Some paintings I finished over the course of years, and others I finished within a day. Each one is inspired by life and change. I rarely start a painting with a plan, just a vague vision and feeling that I know will always come to life on my canvas eventually.

The process requires patience and confidence. There are no mistakes, no wrong brushstrokes or unworthy ideas. I work with whatever circumstances or materials I have available to me, and the piece I’m working on turns out exactly as it should, always. I don’t stress over a piece not matching its original vision, because none of them do. They all start as one thing and end as something completely new, just like humans. That’s what I love most about my creations. It feels as though they have just as much say in their appearance as I do.

I believe our homes should be filled with color and art that make us feel things and appreciate life. I hope you will allow me to help you fill your home.
